My Favorite Face Oils

I love using face oils for moisturizing and as treatment serums. I have dry skin and the older I get, the more hydration I need. A good quality face oil feels so nourishing and hydrating! Contrary to what you might think, putting oil on your face will not clog your skin or make you break out. In fact, it is just the opposite. There are many essential oils that can help with breakouts and soothe skin irritation with anti-bacterial and healing properties.

A good quality facial oil usually has a higher price point because of the quality of the ingredients. And because you are putting it on your largest organ (your skin!) you want those ingredients to be sourced reliably and of the best quality. The great thing about oils is that you only need a few drops so I find that mine last quite a while and have all been worth the investment. I love that my favorite face oils all happen to come from small, women-owned skincare companies. I also love that they are all made with clean ingredients. No synthetics or fake fragrance!

If you have oily skin or want your oil to feel a bit lighter on your face, simply start with damp skin. Either with a fine mist of a mineral water spray like this one, or a spritz of your favorite toner (I love this one from Fresh). Or you can add a few drops of a Hyaluronic Skin Essence (I love this one from Hanskin!) to your hand with a couple drops of oil and blend with your fingertips before patting it into your skin. This will create a lighter consistency while adding extra moisture with the hyaluronic acid.

Here are 4 face oils that I have tried and love!

  1. Sacred Ritual Sacred Serum

This luxurious oil nourishes your skin with moisture rich nutrients and antioxidants that protect, balance your skin, and supercharge structural cell growth. It also has natural UVA and UVB sun protection. It has a lovely golden tint to it from the natural essential oils and my skin drinks it up. The smell can be a bit "medicinal" for some, but I really like it. Sacred Ritual uses cold pressed, organic oils, which means they obtain their vital nutrients and have better absorption. If your skin is very fair, the golden glow can be a bit dark. Sacred Ritual carries a lighter oil called Sacred Glow Serum that is more suitable for lighter complexions.

  2. Qēt Botanicals Hydrating Night Serum

I found this wonder oil at Qet's shop when they were located here in San Clemente. I was struggling with irritated skin from using retinol at the time and the owner (who had the most beautiful skin) recommended this oil. Rosehip and argan oils promote healing with antioxidants, vitamins and Omegas 3, 6, and 9 to quench and rejuvenate. It was a game changer for my skin. In about a week my face was glowing and healthy again. Unfortunately, Qet no longer has a store in San Clemente, but you can buy all of their clean beauty products on line. Their Hydrating Night Serum is also EWG verified!

  3. Naked and Thriving Rejuvenate Restorative Face Oil

I love everything that Naked and Thriving makes! From their serums to their oils, everything feels great on your skin. The Rejuvenate Restorative Face Oil Revives & Restores skin's natural, youthful beauty. It is a blend of organic plant botanicals and is formulated to help moisturize skin, improve the appearance of fines lines, and support a healthy-looking glow. The smell is amazing and it feels so good on the skin.

  4. Mara Algae + Moringa® Universal Face Oil

I got a sample of this oil and instantly fell in love. From the fresh "ocean like" smell to the light and velvety consistency...it is just so good. The plankton in Mara's oil has powerful antioxidants with high fatty acids that strengthen your skin's hydration barrier and helps it to retain moisture. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and acne prone. My skin just drinks it up! It absorbs quickly for me and I can even wear it under make up. I am definitely stocking up on this one when the Sephora sale hits.
