My Morning Wellness Cocktail

Updated: Nov 14, 2024

Here on RIRL, I want to share all of the things that I do on a daily basis to help ME to feel my best. I take a lot of different nutritional supplements and I know it will seem excessive to some people, but my routine works for ME. I am not here to recommend that everyone take the supplements that I take. Health is individual and personal...everyone's body is different and has different needs. Being an over 50, menopausal women with gut issues, my supplement routine is focused on those needs. I want to share what I do daily to help me feel my best in hopes it can help anyone else looking to add nutritional supplements to their routine. I also want to add that I do a lot of research before I purchase any supplements. I am aware that just about anyone can decide to make a nutritional supplement and market it to the world with minimal regulation. First of all, is the supplement clinically proven to do anything for your health? Are there any studies to reference? Is it free of unnatural fillers, colorings, or flavors? Is it safe? Is it third party tested? And after all the research, does it actually help me to feel my best? That last question is a tough one because some supplements don't have much effect on the way you feel on a day to day basis, but can still be doing great things for your body long-term. Getting my yearly bloodwork really helps to shows me what I'm doing right or wrong.

This brings me to my morning "cocktail". I know it looks like swamp water, but believe it or not, it is actually very tasty and I look forward to drinking it each morning. I mix up this concoction first thing in the morning before I have anything else. I add all of the supplements that I list below and use my mini stick blender to mix it all together. I have found that adding a little water to my glass before adding the powdered supplements keeps them from sticking to the bottom of the glass. They all blend up together easily.

Biotics Research GI Resolve

I started taking this supplement about 3 months ago to help with my Gastritis and I have seen significant improvement with my overall gut health since I started taking it. It is a science backed formula of gut-supportive nutrients such as L-Glutamine, Zinc Carnosine, N-Acetyl Glucosamine, Aloe vera leaf, Okra, and Licorice Root Extract. When I was researching supplements to improve my gut health and help heal my gastritis, I found that L-Glutamine (an essential amino acid) was very helpful in treating Gut and GI issues. I started taking L-Glutamine on its own and then found GI Resolve, which has additional gut healing ingredients. It is free of added flavors, colors, sweeteners, gums and common allergens. It aids in healthy digestion, helps with intestinal health, and supports the natural secretions of the mucous membranes in the GI tract. If you have gastritis, leaky gut, chronic bloating, IBS, or other GI issues, GI Resolve may be a good supplement for you.

Daily Elements is a greens powder that I recently added to my routine. I have resisted taking a greens powder because I have a pretty balanced diet and didn't think I needed it. I also wasn't a fan of the ones that were available because they had other ingredients that I wasn't interested in. Daily Elements is made with only one ingredient...microgreens. Actually 4 ingredients if you count the 4 types: micro pea, micro kale, micro red cabbage, and micro broccoli. They are grown in a fully controlled farm, without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or additives — making them even cleaner and more sustainable than organic. Microgreens pack a concentrated nutritional punch full of antioxidants and vitamins. They are also very low in oxalates which are found in some mature greens and are linked to kidney stones and other health problems. I love the fact that I can get this nutrient dense food that can help with my immune support, improve my digestion, and much more, all with a scoop of powder. As far as taste goes, it has a slightly "green" taste that is mild and very pleasant. If you don't like the idea of taking a greens powder first thing in the morning, Daily Elements would be great added to a smoothie.

I found this fiber supplement after learning how important it is for menopausal women to get 25 to 30 grams of fiber in their diet each day. I wanted a super clean and nutrient dense fiber supplement and I found it with the Sakara Fiber Super Powder. I already knew about Sakara from their plant based meal delivery, which I have tried and loved. So when I saw that they sold a fiber supplement, I was excited to try it. It is made with a blend of 10 prebiotic fruits and vegetables plus 10 diverse digestive enzymes (more gut goodness). This helps me start my day with 6 grams of good quality fiber and also helps with digestion and bloating, thanks to all the prebiotics. With a hint of pinapple flavor, it is very tasty!

Last but not least, I add one pouch of SeroVital Glow Sticks to my drink for morning hydration. I always wake up feeling (and looking) a little dehydrated. Glow Sticks are a "Beauty Electrolyte" so they have more to offer than just electrolytes. They have hyaluronic acid, ceramides, antioxidant-rich vitamin C, and electrolytes to hydrate your skin from the inside out. I have noticed that my skin is plumper, more hydrated and healthier looking since I started using these. The Glow Stick is also key to making my "Swamp Water" taste like a delicious, hydrating drink. It does have stevia in it so it sweetens my drink nicely without any added sugar. Before using the SeroVital Glow Sticks, I would add a scoop of Cure Hydration electrolyte powder for flavor and to get my morning hydration. I still love using Cure after a workout or just when I feel like I need an electrolyte boost, but I am really loving the results that I am getting from the SeroVital Glow Sticks in my morning drink.
